History
Lake Pepin Guide Service, was founded and operated by Capt. Harold
Rye, in
Lake City, MN in 1994.  Capt. Harold served clients on Lake Pepin
and Mississippi River Pool 4 until 2007 when health issues forced the sale of
the business to Capt. Ken Poole, a longtime tournament fisherman, fishing
partner and friend.  Capt. Ken will continue to give clients a very good time
on the water and will produce good results.

Your Guide
Mississippi River Pools 3 and 4 have been the home waters of Capt. Ken
Poole for over 30 years.  In Ken's time on the water there he acquired the
skills that would take him on the MWC, RCL and FLW Tournament
Circuits.  For 15 years Ken fished these circuits improving his techniques
and expanding his knowledge of Walleye fishing.   Capt. Ken also has years
of experience fishing Salmon and Trout on the Great Lakes, in fact, he still
owns a boat that stays on Lake Michigan.  While Capt. Ken guides mostly
for walleye and sauger, one of his true loves is to take his grandchildren to
that great "Crappie hole" to catch a nice mess for the pan.

The Fishery
Lake Pepin, located in the Hiawatha Valley of Southeastern Minnesota and
Southwestern Wisconsin, is one of the better fisheries in either state.
Walleye and Sauger are abundant in this scenic stretch of the river and are
our specialty, however, many other species of fish are also native to this part
of the Mississippi River.  These include, Bass (Largemouth, Smallmouth and
White Bass), Catfish, Northern Pike, and Panfish.  We will do our best to
assure you of the best fishing available at the time.

The Area
The area offers many things of interest other than great fishing.  Bluffs rising
425 feet above the lake contribute to Lake Pepin's great beauty, and are
home to an abundance of Bald Eagles and other wildlife.  A morning sunrise
or an evening sunset over the bluffs with eagles overhead and wildlife along
the shoreline is a site not soon forgotten. For those not wanting to fish, there
are many golf courses, hiking trails, and antique shops and we have close
proximity to biking trails, tubing, canoing, a water park, and lots of other
shopping and sight-seeing for all.
Frontenac State Park, located only 6 miles
North of Lake City, has recorded over 260 species of birds and can be a
birdwatchers paradise.  The park also offers a campground and full hook-up
RV parking.
Treasure Island Resort & Casino is located only 25 minutes
from Lake City and offers a full casino, motel, marina and RV park.  There
is also
Lark Toys, one of the largest independently owned toy stores in the
nation located only a few minutes away.

Fall colors in the bluff area are absolutely breathtaking and happen about the
time the fall fishing gets
"hot".  What a time to bring the family!
